Umemba Health graduates first cohort of CHW Instructors

July 29, 2021, Austin Texas - Umemba Health, LLC is a woman and minority-owned public health education and consulting agency that works to improve public health and population health practices by supporting individual development and organizational performance that drives healthy change. One of the ways they accomplish this goal is through the training and certification of Community Health Workers (CHWs) and CHW Instructors.

A Community Health Worker is a front-line public health worker who is a trusted member of and/or has an unusually close understanding of the community served. CHWs improve individual and community health and access to care, and forge connections where people live, learn, work, play, pray, and age, from the inner city to rural communities.

CHW Instructors are individuals approved to provide instruction and training in one or more core competencies for Community Health Workers. Umemba Health's CHW Instructor Certification places emphasis on virtual-Instructor Led Training (v-ILT). Students not only learn to master the CHW core competencies, they also learn strategies and best practices for engaging CHW students in a virtual classroom.
